Esrange is a unique space center near Kiruna in northern Sweden, above the Arctic Circle. 50 years ago the first scientific rocket was launched and since then the center has launched more than 550 rockets and 520 balloons for different scientific purposes, using the vast unpopulated area. The center also operates one of the world's largest satellite stations, Esrange Satellite Station.
“We at SSC are proud of our achievements and have exciting plans for the years to come”, says Lennart Poromaa, site manager at Esrange. “The ongoing modernization of Esrange will add new capabilities to strengthen its position as a leading Center of Excellence.”
