As one of the last actions under the SSC logo Airborne Systems together with the Finnish Border Guard (FBG) invited a number of maritime surveillance system users to a user seminar in Turku. The FBG chaired the event and also had the opportunity to present their operations and to demonstrate the latest and most advanced MSS 6000 system on board their Dornier aircraft. The seminar was initiated to provide our MSS customers with an opportunity to enlarge their network of MSS surveillance system users and to exchange experiences. MSS system users from Canada, Estonia, Finland, Iceland and Uruguay attended the event.

Presentations and workshops gave the participants ample opportunity to get to know each other and to discuss different aspects ofcoast guard operations using the MSS system. Finally participants were given afirst view of the new generation airborne maritime surveillance system – the MSS 7000 – and were invited to discuss what they liked and did not like in theproposed features of the system. We took careful notes and will make sure to incorporate the comments and suggestions into the final design of the new system.
The seminar was very much appreciated by all of the participants and we hope this will be the first in a series of User Seminars hosted by different countries.
